EDDY CURRENT TESTING
RRL NDT offers eddy current testing and inspection services, as well as training.

Eddy Current Testing & Inspection
RRL NDT has American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II and Level III certified technicians that are ready to perform eddy current testing (ET) and inspections at your work site. Eddy current testing is an electromagnetic testing method that is used to detect cracks, pits, inclusions, and voids on heat exchangers and condensers, bearings, spindles, tubing, and other metallic conductive surfaces that are both ferrous and nonferrous.
Eddy current testing finds flaws before they are visible, making defects detectable at their earliest stages— prior to creep or catastrophic failure. When ET is used as a preventative maintenance tool, it can reduce rotating equipment downtime.
Some defects commonly found using eddy current testing include:
- Internal and external pitting
- Corrosion-erosion
- Service and fatigue induced cracking
- Thermal deterioration
- Vibration mechanical damage
- Fretting
- Freeze bulges
- Metallurgical variances
At RRL NDT, we are committed to providing cost-effective eddy current testing and other NDT solutions to the aerospace, automotive, marine, nuclear, petrochemical, and heating/cooling industries. We can additionally oversee your NDT program, and our Level III technicians can provide trainings, qualifications, and certifications for your business. Our experience in this industry makes us excellent instructors!
